Bahamas Blue Carbon
The Bahama Banks Blue Carbon project is a seagrass conservation and restoration project undertaken by the government of The Bahamas in partnership with Blue Carbon International. The Bahamas is home to the world's largest seagrass ecosystem, but mapping reveals that as much as 30% of the ecosystem was lost between 2010 and 2020.

Partnering with Sharks to discover the seagrass meadow
In one of the largest ocean discoveries of the decade, Blue Carbon International’s founding partner Beneath The Waves discovered the largest seagrass meadow while studying tiger shark movements, with sharks tagged with satellite tags and custom-built cameras.
Looking beyond carbon to benefit nature and communities
Seagrass meadows provide many vital ecosystem services including biodiversity benefits, providing nursery and habitat for reef fish, invertebrates and sharks, as well as community benefits, preventing coastal erosion by stabilizing sediment.
